About Adoption
Adopting a rescue dog is not just about bringing a pet into your home; it’s about saving a life and gaining a loyal companion who will offer you unconditional love and joy. Each year, countless dogs find themselves in shelters, often through no fault of their own, and by choosing to adopt, you are giving one of these deserving animals a forever home.
When you adopt a rescue dog, you’re likely to encounter a variety of breeds, ages, and temperaments, each with unique stories to tell. Many of these dogs have been through difficult circumstances and are eager to trust again. With patience and understanding, you can help your new furry friend adjust to their new environment and flourish. The experience of adopting a rescue dog is incredibly rewarding. Not only will you find a loyal companion to share your life with, but you’ll also enjoy the knowledge that you’ve made a positive impact.
Rescue dogs are often filled with gratitude for their second chance, and their love is often boundless. Additionally, bringing a rescue dog into your home promotes awareness about animal welfare and how loving rescue dogs truly are.
As you embark on this journey, remember that adopting a dog requires commitment, love, and patience. Every bark, wag, and cuddle will remind you that you’ve made the right choice. Your rescue dog will not only fill your home with warmth and joy but will also become a cherished member of your family, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Adopting a rescue dog is truly one of the most fulfilling decisions you can make.
THE ADOPTION PROCESS
Getting to Know You:
Please complete the adoption application, and one of our adoption coordinators will get in touch with you! If your application progresses, we’ll verify veterinary (if applicable) and schedule a residence check.
Interview: One of our Homebound Rescue counselors will contact you to arrange an interview.
Meet & Greet: You and all members of your household will have the opportunity to meet the dog—possibly via a virtual session. This is a great time to ask the foster any questions you may have.
The Official Process: We will send you the adoption contract for your review and signature. This is also when you will pay the adoption fee.
Adoption Trial: Each adoption includes a trial period before it is finalized. This allows you to see how your pup adapts to your home and daily routine. Trials are often a 1-2 week trial or less.
The Exciting Part: After the adoption trial, you will receive your adoption certificate!
